Provide volunteer work for the Y, (great benefits and friendly faces). As a YMCA volunteer, you can lead an exercise class, read to a preschool class, coach a basketball team, cook for a bake sale, greet people at the front desk, find items for an auction, serve as a role model for young people, or help out in the office or at a special event.
Corporate volunteers serve on the board or a corporate committee.
Through Togetherhood®, Y members from all backgrounds work with their neighbors and community partners to plan and lead service projects that respond to community needs. Togetherhood enables members to experience the power of the Y’s cause in action and play a direct role in shaping the future of their community. It also helps Y's demonstrate community benefit, showing the public that we’re more than just a gym and swim—we’re a non-profit dedicated to strengthening community.
Today, only 27% of people say they feel closely connected to their neighbors. While people feel increasingly isolated from one another, community needs often go unmet. Togetherhood, the Y's member-led volunteer service program, aims to reverse these trends. Y members from all backgrounds work side by side with neighbors and partners to plan and implement volunteer projects that strengthen their communities. Together we can make a difference!
Program volunteers perform an on-going task for the Y. Program volunteers might be found coaching in youth sports, assisting members in the wellness room as wellness desk support or giving our perspective members a tour of our facility.
Special event volunteers assist the Y on a one-time basis for a specific event or task, like Halloween at the Y or Healthy Kids Day.
