  • Lil’ Rug Bugs (ages 4-5)

  • This gymnastics-based class focuses on body positions, listening skills, balance, coordination, and very basic tumbling skills.

     

     

  • Sports of All Sorts (ages 4-5)

  • Children participate in various games and sports such as hockey, basketball, T-ball, and soccer. We focus on sportsmanship, skill development, and having a great time. Registration space is limited, so please sign up early!

     

     

  • Indoor T-ball Clinic (ages 4-6)

  • This five-week clinic features VERY simple rules that help children determine whether baseball and softball are sports they want to continue. The program consists of five one-hour sessions progressing from learning how to throw and catch the ball, all the way to playing a real game. Parents are encouraged to stay and support their children as they learn this challenging, yet fun, sport.

     

     

  • Indoor Soccer Clinic (ages 4-7)

  • Develop skills and learn the basics of soccer. Kids are put into two divisions: 4-5 year olds, and 6-7 year olds. The clinic runs on Tuesday evenings. They practice and work on skills and knowledge, then scrimmage class.

 

 

  • Youth Basketball League (co-ed, ages 4 years - 6th grade)

  • The YMCA Youth Basketball League promises to be as exciting and fun as ever. This league focuses on fundamentals, teamwork, sportsmanship, and having a great time. The season consists of pre-season practices and six league games with teams determined by age. Games and practices run on Mondays through Thursdays from 5 - 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. 

     

     

  • Youth Sports Personal Instruction (ages 5-12)

  • Private basketball, soccer, and t-ball/baseball lessons are available for both boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 12. All focus on basic skills and strategies while having fun at the same time.

     

     

  • Beginner Basketball Fundamentals Clinic (co-ed, ages 5-7)

  • Children are taught very basic fundamentals from dribbling to passing and shooting. Many games are played to keep the clinic fun, hopefully allowing children to get more comfortable with basketball. Space is limited so do not delay in signing up. 

     

     

  • Basketball Fundamentals Clinic (co-ed, ages 8-13)

  • Get ready to work and have fun! Learn the skills and fundamentals needed to become a serious basketball player. A former player/coach leads the five-week clinic. Look for flyers in August to see who the instructor(s) will be. Contests and prizes will be provided. 

     

     

  • Flag Football Clinic (coed, grades K-3)

  • This five-week clinic combines the basics such as throwing, catching, positions, and teamwork. Held at Self School field, 750 Ransom Road.

  • Floor Hockey Clinic (grades 1-4)

  • This clinic offers basic introduction to hockey skills.

  • “Winning Ways” Basketball Clinic (grades K-8)

  • Sharp Shooter and 10-time Olympic medal winner, Bob Owens, brings his “bullseye method” of shooting to the YMCA for a clinic. Having worked with several professional ball players, Bob guarantees results in shooting accuracy. Bob travels the country teaching this class. Be sure to take advantage of his experience and special pricing he offers our YMCA. Kids come ready to learn and have a great time!

     
  • T-ball/Baseball League (co-ed, ages 4 years - 6th grade)

  • Volunteer coaches focusing on baseball fundamentals and enjoying the game. Practices will be Mondays, Tuesday, or Wednesdays with games on Saturday. The season consists of seven weeks of games and practices. T-shirts are also provided. All practices and games are located at SELF School.

     

     

  • Indoor Soccer League (co-ed, ages 4 years – 5th grade)

  • Indoor soccer promises to be fast paced and exciting for children between the ages of four years through fifth grade. The league focuses on skills such as quickenss, agility, and soccer skills such as ball control and passing. Divisions are determined by age and grade. Volunteers coaches are always needed and are what makes this program a success.

  • Challenger Sports British Soccer (ages 4-14)

  • The Valparaiso Family YMCA is very excited to introduce this high-level soccer camp run by international European coaches, July 14-18. These coaches are nationally qualified and campers will have the opportunity to greatly improve their skills along with their own World Cup. Visit www.challengersports.com for more information.   • Outdoor Soccer Clinic ( ages 4-7)

  • Develop skills and learn the basics of soccer. Kids are put into two divisions: 4-5 year olds and 6-7 year olds. The clinic runs on Tuesday evenings.   • Volleyball Clinic (co-ed, ages 10-13)

  • This 5-week clinic provides an introduction into the sport of volleyball for middle school-aged children. They will learn basic skills and game mechanics.
