The Y serves both Valparaiso, Indiana and the surrounding townships or approximately 60,000 people. The YMCA has a membership of over 6,000 but serves 12,000 different people each year. Valparaiso is located in the center of Porter County, about 15 miles from Lake Michigan and 45 miles from Chicago. Operating Principles
  • We consider our community to include the broader worldwide community as well as our local service area.
  • We strive to provide a broad range of programs and services for all people regardless of their race, sex, age, physical or mental ability, religion or national origin.
  • Membership and program participation is open to all people regardless of their ability to pay.
  • We consider the family, no matter how defined, as our primary constituency, but do not limit participation to families only.
Special Notes
  • A membership card or daily guest pass must be presented at the access control desk to use YMCA facilities.
  • The YMCA encourages use of locks on all lockers; the YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen property.
  • Children under 10 must be accompanied by a parent if not enrolled in a class.
  • The adult locker rooms are available for high school age and adults only.
  • The YMCA is a tobacco-free building. Foul language is not in keeping with the YMCA mission.
