Wellness

  • Wellness Center—High School-Adult

  • Orientations in the Wellness Center are a free service available to Members. The scheduled instructional appointment is meant to make you feel comfortable and safe on our equipment. A completed health survey and, when necessary, a medical clearance are needed prior to your scheduled orientation. Schedule your orientation today at the Courtesy Desk. 14 years and up.

     
  • Personal Training

  • YMCA personal trainers are prepared to help you achieve your goals. They hold certifications through YMCA of the USA, AFAA, ACSM and ACE. A completed health survey and, when necessary, a medical clearance are needed prior to your training session. Contact Kari Bukur, Wellness Coordinator at ext. 237 to find the trainer best suited for your needs.

     
  • Combination Assessment/Personal Training Package

  • A combination package that includes a fitness evaluation, body composition, and an initial personal training package.

     
  • Partner Personal Training

  • Make personal training more affordable! Partner with a buddy and receive the expertise and guidance of a certified personal trainer who will help you determine and reach your personal fitness goals. Package includes initial meeting to do a fitness assessment, goal setting, program design, and 5 one-hour sessions with a trainer. Partners must train together. Contact Kari Bukur.

     
  • Body Composition Test

  • This program will accurately measure an individual's body fat percent, blood pressure, and resting heart rate. The YMCA uses Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis to determine a person’s body composition. A four-hour food, caffeine, and activity fast prior to testing is required for accurate results. A computer-generated report is provided with nutrition recommendations along with body fat percentage. Contact Kari Bukur to schedule your evaluation.

     
  • Fitness Evaluation/ Body Composition

  • The evaluation will show you how you rank by your age and gender in the following categories: resting heart rate, blood pressure, body composition, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance.   • Strength Training for Men and Women

  • Osteoporosis is a preventable disease, yet 8 million individuals have it and another 17 million have low bone mass. Build bone density and avoid painful debilitating hip, spine, and wrist fractures with strength training. Participants will gain lean muscle mass, which will boost metabolism aiding in weight control. Arthritis sufferers can gain joint strength and ease arthritic pain. Diabetics can see noticeable improvement in blood sugar levels. Blood pressure and cholesterol levels also improve. Overall strength will improve and your muscles will be more toned.

     
  • Zumba

  • Ready to have lots of FUN, and get a great cardio and core workout at the same time? Zumba incorporates dances from all over the world. It is done to motivating international music. No dance background needed. You will learn everything you need to know in the seven week session. Instructor: Lee


  • Zumba Gold

  • Zumba Gold is a great place for those new to exercise, those just beginning to do Zumba classes, and active older adults. It uses the same music and moves as a regular Zumba class, it just moves at a slower pace and offers modifications. Lots of fun and a great workout! Instructor: Bonnie


Mind and Body

  • Pilates Reformer

  • Joseph H. Pilates developed the Universal Reformer. This special piece of equipment is designed to exercise every part of the body. Pilates on the Reformer improves strength, muscle tone, coordination and flexibility. More than 50 exercises can be done on the Reformer. These exercises can be personally tailored to benefit every fitness level and body type. In the words of Joseph Pilates – "In ten sessions you will feel the difference, in twenty you will see the difference, and in thirty you will have a whole new body."

     
  • Pilates Matwork

  • Created by Joseph Pilates, these exercises are effective at strengthening the core, firming the buttocks, improving flexibility, targeting posture, and increasing strength. This class will include the flex band, fitness circle, exercise ball, and standing Pilates exercises at different times.

     
  • Yoga Classes are Back for Beginners

  • This class is designed with beginners in mind! Evening and Weekend This easy flow class allows you to gently move into stillness, as you calm the mind and body through your breath. Learn to become in tune with your own body's rhythm, as you connect movement with the breath in traditional Hatha Yoga poses. Leave with a centered, peaceful, relaxed feeling of contentment. Punch card expires 2 months from date of purchase.

  • Honna Kozik, R.D. is now available to meet you at the YMCA to help you reach your nutritional goals. Whether you want to safely lose weight, reduce your risk of diseases such as cancer, diabetes, or heart disease, train for a sport, or embark on a vegetarian diet, this one-hour consultation can help you on your way.
