  • Activate your aqua exercise urge for variety! SilverSplash® offers LOTS of fun and shallow water moves to improve agility, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance. No swimming ability is required, and a special SilverSneakers® kickboard is used to develop strength, balance, and coordination. Instructor: Shirley Darlere

     
  • BNB – Prime Time Fitness
    1:30 - 3 p.m. M-F

  • This time is specifically designed for the 60+ population in our Cardio Strength Center. A staff member will be available during this time to help you, so concerns and questions about operating equipment can be answered.

     
  • 60+BNB Fitness Assessment

  • AFitness assessments provide estimated measures of an individual's fitness level including cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength/ endurance, and flexibility. The results can be used to create an exercise program, service as a motivational tool, or show where areas of improvement are needed.

     
  • Silver Lunch Bunch

  • Don’t forget Silver Lunch Bunch! Join your friends for monthly lunch and fun. Lunch is on your own. Please register one week in advance.

     
  • BNB – Healthy Lifestyles

  • ASemi-Monthly Lectures include such topics as “Making Healthy New Years Resolutions”, “Benefits of Exercise – Aerobic vs. Strength Training” and much more! Register at least one week in advance. Free! 

     

     

    SilverSneakers™

  • SilverSneakers, which is available to Medicare-eligible members of Humana, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, and AARP, offers the opportunity to use the Valparaiso Family YMCA and also the specially-designed SilverSneakers classes that focus on improving flexibility, balance, and endurance for older adults. This unique benefit is offered at no additional cost beyond the monthly premiums to eligible members. YMCA members and community who are not eligible for this insurance benefit may also take these classes.

     
  • SilverSneakers I – Muscular Strength & Range of Movement

  • Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, a ball for resistance, and a chair for seated and/or standing support are used. Certified SilverSneakers instructors:
    Nadine Gerig – Mondays & Wednesdays
    Bonnie Fortener – Fridays
    M/W/F 8 - 8:45 a.m. MPR
    Free for YMCA Members and eligible Humana, Anthem, and AARP cardholders
    $73 for Community
