Wellness Center Equipment Orientation

Orientations in theWellness Center are a free service available to members ages 14 and up. The 45-minute scheduled instructional appointment is meant to make you feel comfortable and safe on our equipment. A completed Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) and, when necessary, a medical clearance are needed prior to your scheduled orientation.

Porter Community Health Nurse Services

Laurie Wehner-Evans, RN MSN, will be at the Y providing Members and Community Participants with health care assessments, referrals, resources, and education. Health care screenings will include

  • blood pressure
  • blood sugar
  • body mass index
  • cholesterol
  • stroke risk
  • bone density
  • sleep apnea

Ultimate Test Lab-Fitness Testing

Hydrostatic Body Composition Testing

Precisely measures body fat and lean body tissues using the underwater submersion technique. This is the Gold Standard of measuring body compositions. Bring a bathing suit and towel.

V02 Max/Sub-Max Testing

Measures volume of exygen consumption and will graph how many calories are burned at what rate and at what heart rate person stops burning fat as fuel and begins to burn all sugar. Wear workout clothes.

Resting Metabolic Rate Testing (RMR)

Measures the number of calories your body uses at rest and is related to lean body mass. No caffeine, heavy meals or exercise 3-4 hours before test.
