	"After being diagnosed almost three years ago with cancer my world, as I knew it, fell into financial ruin. The assistance program made it possible for me to keep my family membership. We utilized the facility frequently for many different reasons. My sons, to keep in shape and build muscle for their Valpo High School football agenda, the basketball courts for games in the winter, the hot tub for relaxing and soothing aches & pains they.ve earned on the field and of course the pool just because they love to swim. I, however, have been using the .Y. for rehabilitation from a mastectomy, and bone marrow transplant that left me bed ridden for months. Without the generous donations of other in the community losing my membership was inevitable. You.ve all made it possible for me and my family to enjoy precious time together and keep some sense of normalcy in our hectic lives. For this we are all very appreciative."

	Scholarships

	Everyone is welcome at the YMCA. Walk into our facility, and you will see people of all ages and incomes. If a person or family is unable to pay for membership, scholarships are provided through donations from generous businesses, foundations, and individuals. Over $135,000 in charitable gifts was given to the Valparaiso Family YMCA last year to support membership scholarships and programs that change lives. The demand for scholarships and program sponsors increases every year. Your gifts are needed to keep the YMCA open to all.
