Valpo Jazz & Blues Fest

Feb. 25, 2012

6:30 pm to midnight

Strongbow Inn

The Valparaiso Family YMCA will be hosting its 7th annual Valpo Jazz & Blues Fest 2012.  This event will benefit the CHANGING LIVES Annual Community Assistance Drive of the Valparaiso Family YMCA. This campaign raises funds to support the Y’s financial assistance and scholarship programs. This year’s Campaign is being chaired by Dr. Jerry Rodenbarger.

This casual event will be held on February 25th from 6:30 – midnight at Strongbow Inn, located at 2405 East US Highway 30, in the Caroline and Charles Rooms.  Back to the stage this year will be the Head Honchos Band. Based in Valparaiso, Head Honchos plays the Chicago circuit.  Grounded on the foundation of American blues, rock, soul, and fun, the Head Honchos launch their improvisation excursion with an irresistible invitation to kick back, let go, and enthusiastically ENJOY! The evening begins with perennial favorite Jeff Brown Trio.

By the end of 2011, it is projected the Valparaiso Family YMCA will have reached $300,000 in financial assistance need for low-income families, as well as memberships to more than 15 area group homes and human service agencies.  Funds raised enable these agencies to bring their clients to the YMCA at any time to enjoy the physical, as well as the psychological benefits of fitness, exercise, and socialization.

The Valpo Jazz & Blues Fest is being chaired this year by Tom Newton.  For those interested in making a silent auction donation for the event, sponsorship opportunities, tickets, or a contribution to the Changing Lives Campaign, please contact Debra Koeppen, Financial Development Director, at 219-462-4185, extension 229; or via e-mail:  dkoeppen@valpoymca.org
