At the Y, we’re dedicated to strengthening community by giving back and supporting our neighbors. Participating in the Togetherhood® program gives you the chance to activate your social responsibility by helping our neighbors receive the support they need to feel healthy, connected and secure. Plus, contributing your time and talents for the good of others can enhance your own well-being!  

Volunteer Opportunities:

1. Join The TOGETHERHOOD® Service Committee 
As a member of the Service Committee, you’ll serve for a term of one year to scope and run projects that help strengthen our community.

2. Become a Service Project Volunteer
Service projects are designed to make meaningful impact while being rewarding, convenient and fun!

Last year the Valparaiso Family YMCA was able to give $350,000 in support for our families in need, non-profit client memberships, childcare scholarships, chronic disease programs, and discounted sports, recreation and swim lessons – helping more children, adults and families than ever to learn, grow and thrive. We are proud of this success, but our community needs more. The demand for quality childcare is on the rise. Chronic diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease continue to grow. The need to feel connected to your community is stronger than ever. There are so many more economically challenged individuals and families who need access to the amazing programs at the Y.  

The number one reason individuals don’t make a gift to a cause is because they were never asked. That’s where we need your help! When you share your love of the Y, you open the door for new supporters to make this community stronger. 

The campaign volunteer opportunity is a small time commitment, but it makes a big impact. 

• Estimated 10 hour time commitment

• Help make new connections
• Enjoy being a part of an amazing group of volunteers 
• Campaigning runs from late January through mid-April

Be the coach that makes an impact! Being a Valparaiso Family YMCA coach gives you the opportunity to model our core values (Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Caring) to your players, show them how to deal with and overcome adversity, and how to grow a love for sport that can help keep them active for a lifetime.

• Receive $10 off your program registration when you complete volunteer coaching for a youth sports program.

You make the mission possible! Volunteers at our annual events help with keeping race routes safe to helping create memories for families. We’d love to have your help! These positions are great for individuals and groups alike.
