Due to the high volume of applications that we receive, the approval process may take up to 30 days for completion. Please be sure to submit all required documents as outlined on the application checklist. Please make sure to bring copies with your application, as we are unable to make copies at the Valpo YMCA. • What are eligible service areas?​
  • To better service our local communities, scholarship applicants must reside in one of the following Indiana area codes: 46383, 46385, 46347, 46341 and 46302
• What is the maximum amount of financial assistance I can receive?
  • Financial Assistance can help to cover up to 85% of Membership Dues and up to 50% of Programming or Childcare dues thanks to our generous donors of the Annual Campaign!
     
• What can financial assistance help me toward at the YMCA?
  • Financial Assistance may be applied toward membership dues, programming fees, or even childcare dues! 
     
• How long does it take to be approved for Financial Assistance?
  • Due to the high volume of applications we receive and the approval process may take up to 30 days for completion. You can help speed this process up by being sure to submit ALL income verification at the time of submission to fa@valpoymca.org​
     
• What counts as income?
  • Income is any form of financial disbursement that you, or anyone over the age of 18 living in your home, receive to sustain your household. This can include, but is not limited to:

    • 10-40 Tax Statement

    • Child Support

    • Alimony

    • TANF/WIC/SNAP/Food Stamps

    • Unemployment

    • Social Security

    • Retirement/Pension

    • Disability

• What can I submit for income verification?

  • The most preferred method of submission is a year-end tax document, such as (but not limited to) a 10-40 tax statement.

• What if I have no proof of any type of income?

  • Unfortunately, we will not be able to extend financial assistance without some proof of financial status to use to determine eligibility. Depending on circumstances, we may be able to issue a short-term, temporary Financial assistance for less than 90 days until proper documentation can be acquired. Please email fa@valpoymca.org if you need assistance with this type of extenuating circumstance. 

All Financial Assistance award decisions are final and are not subject to appeal.
